1.1. Installation Procedure

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Install the upper half of connecting rod bearing into the connecting rod. Ensure that the bearing tab engages with the slot in the connecting rod.

  1. Apply clean engine oil on the surface of the upper half of connecting rod bearing.

  1. Position the connecting rod and the connecting rod bearing on the crankshaft.

  1. Install the lower half of the connecting rod bearing (2) in connecting rod cap (1). Ensure that the bearing tab engages with the groove in connecting rod cap (1) .

  1. Apply clean engine oil on the surface of the lower half of the connecting rod bearing (2) .

  1. Install connecting rod cap (1) on the corresponding connecting rod. Ensure that the numbers are on the same side.

  1. Install the connecting rod cap bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 130 ± 7 N·m (95 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Place an index mark on each bolt head. Tighten each bolt for an additional 60 ± 5 degrees (1/6 turn).

  1. Install the suction bell assembly.

End By: Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
