NEW LINK ASSEMBLY AND TOUGH STEEL SEGMENTS FOR D5G/C TTT, 939C TTL
New link assemblies with a track bushing with increased stepped bushing outer diameter (60.7 mm) and tough steel segments are now available in the parts system. These link assemblies can be used on current D5G/D5C/939C machines in the field. The new link assemblies must be used with the new tough steel segments. See part number information and serviceability sections.

Adaptability
The new link assemblies and tough steel segments are now available in the parts department for the current and non-current machines.
? Former link assemblies will be service replaced by a new link assembly and (2) 4 tooth and (3) 5 tooth tough steel segments.
? Former bushing (56.6 mm diameter) part number 9G-8588 will continued to be offered for repairing or replacing individual bushings in the former link assemblies. If entire sets of bushings are required, a new bushing and seal group will be available with the larger stepped bushings (4th quarter 2003).
? Former segment will be service replaced by the new tough steel segment. To obtain maximum life improvement former and new segments should not be mixed.
? Former segments must not be used with the new larger stepped bushing. This could accelerate bushing wear or cause track ?popping? or ?jumping?.
? New tough steel segments also replace segments used for the Rotating Bushing Track option.
? New segment can be used with former link assemblies and bushing (such as after bushing turn) without detrimental effect on bushing life.
? New segments are positively identified (similar to other tough steel segment) by the new part number, and by a ?scallop? under each tooth. This is visible when observing sprocket segments mounted on the machine - see below.
