CHANGE OF CORE ACCEPTANCE FOR REMANUFACTURED MID-RANGE
ENGINES AVSpare Remanufactured
Products announces a change to the core acceptance guidelines for
mid-range engines. Effective immediately, customers can upgrade their
Cat? mid-range engines with Reman and the replaced engine will be
acceptable as core.
It is necessary for dealers to be using the new CMIS 2
software in order to process the non-one-for-one core transaction. All
Cat dealers in North America will be converted to CMIS 2 by November 4,
2001 at the latest.
This change means, for example, if a customer upgrades from a Cat 3126
engine to Cat Reman 3126B, the 3126 engine will be acceptable as core.
In the past, all transactions had to be direct replacements. The amount
of core refund is based on the returned core engine. The following table
shows acceptable replacement options:
CORE MANAGEMENT
Please refer to the AVSpare Core Management Information System (CMIS
2) Parts Information application describing all Reman part/CAF and
related information. Also refer to other CMIS 2 inquiry applications
such as Customer Profile, Inspection Reason Codes, Inspection Line
Inquiry, Add Charge Information, Entitlement Activity, Entitlement
Inquiry, CCR Inquiry, CCR Entry, Shipment Processing; Process Packaging
Grief; and Reporting to properly manage core returns and monitor
inspection performance. This information will be available to all
dealers worldwide after your CMIS 2 conversion date. In the meantime,
please continue to use the current CMIS Entitlement Parts Inquiry Screen
describing the list of parts in a Core Acceptability Family (CAF) and
related part number detail. For the latest updates of
