REMAN CYLINDER HEAD KITS FOR 3406B AND 3406C ENGINES

Announcement

AVSpare announces the addition of Reman cylinder head kits for 3406B and 3406C engines using the 4W2436, 0R3719 or 0R3674 cylinder head groups and either the 160-6686 or 146-4229 cylinder head gasket kits. Kits will include the 0R3674 head group, a cylinder head gasket kit and the exhaust manifold mounting studs and locknuts. The 4W2436, 0R3719 and 0R3674 head groups, and the head gasket kits will continue to be serviced separately.

Kit Consist

Two kits will be offered both of which will contain a 0R3674 cylinder head, a cylinder head gasket kit, and a set of exhaust manifold mounting studs and nuts. Kit consist part numbers are shown below. The Reman Cylinder Head kits contain different head gasket kit part numbers in order to service different 3406B and 3406C engines arrangements/serial numbers.

Core Acceptance Criteria

Current cylinder head core criteria does not change. Used gaskets and hardware are non-returnable items.

Parts Reference and Identification Procedure

To select the correct cylinder head kit the Diesel and Natural Gas Engine Kit Reference Guide, TMI (Technical Marketing Information) or the NACD AVS REMAN INFOCAST web site can be used.

1. To select the correct cylinder head kit, first determine whether or not 0R3674 cylinder head is the correct replacement head.
    
2. Assuming 0R3674 is the correct head then determine if the engine being repaired uses either 160-6686 or 146-4229 head gasket kit. To do this, reference either the Diesel and Natural Gas Engine Gasket kit Reference Guide (PECP9060) or TMI (Technical Marketing Information) system.
    
3. When using TMI you must have the correct engine serial number. Once in TMI click on GNK401, PRGM NUM 18 and type in the engine serial number. Click on "kit data". If either of the two kits apply, the kit part number will be shown. To view the kit consist list, click on the cylinder head kit. If the engine does not use either of the two gasket kits, then the cylinder head and related gaskets and seals must be ordered separately.

4. The NACD INFOCAST site will reference the kit part numbers, kit consists and kit ordering instructions. You must still use TMI or the Diesel and Gas Engine Reference Guide to determine if either of the two kits can be used on the engine being repaired.
