Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Oil filter for the Output Transfer Gear |
- Unscrew the oil filter (1) from the oil filter base. Use a 2P-8250 Strap Wrench Assembly to remove oil filter (1). Inspect the oil filter. See the next section titled “Install a New Oil Filter for the Ouput Transfer Gears” to install the oil filter for the transfer gear case (dropbox).
Note: Some additional oil may drain from the oil filter base (2) when the oil filter (1) is removed. Ensure that a suitable container is in place in order to capture any oil that may drain from the oil filter base (2).

- Wipe the sealing surface. Make sure that you remove all of the oil filter seal.

Illustration 3 g00409711 - Apply a thin coat of clean transmission oil to the new oil filter seal. Install the new oil filter by hand.
Instructions for the installation of the filters are printed on the side of each AVSpare spin-on filter. For non-AVSpare filters, refer to the installation instructions that are provided by the supplier of the filter.
